Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) program is dedicated to providing critical support during times of crisis. Whether it’s a natural disaster or a community emergency, trained EDS volunteers—comprised of Salvation Army staff and community members—are ready to respond. These volunteers operate on a rotating on-call schedule, ensuring a steady pool of available responders without overburdening the same individuals.
On-site, EDS teams provide immediate relief to first responders and victims by distributing essential supplies such as blankets, clothing, and meals. They
also offer emotional and spiritual support to help individuals cope during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Off-site, The Salvation Army coordinates longer-term assistance, including temporary shelter, logistics for supply distribution, and access to clothing through our Thrift Stores for those who have lost their belongings.
Our teams work in close partnership with other agencies to ensure victims are referred to the appropriate services, maximizing the impact and reach of the support provided. Through EDS, The Salvation Army stands ready to bring help, hope, and healing to communities in crisis.
